Thanks to the financial support of UNDP and the Government of Germany, Mikro Kontrol is developing a system for automated monitoring of hand hygiene in healthcare institutions.
In conditions of lack of vaccine and medicine for Covid-19, prevention measures are the only way to stop the spread of the infection. In order to reduce the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic in Serbia, in March this year, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) announced a competition for "Ideas for Innovation in Times of Crisis".

The idea of our team was to develop a system for monitoring hand hygiene in healthcare institutions and thus reduce the percentage of infection transmission.

An important step in the prevention of all infectious diseases is hand hygiene. The solution we devised will enable the development of an automated hand hygiene monitoring system in healthcare facilities, which, in addition to physical distancing and personal protective equipment, is the most important measure to prevent the spread of Covid-19 infection. The hand hygiene monitoring system is based on the "Internet of Medical Things" (IoMT) technology, which, thanks to sensors, detects whether hand disinfection has been performed when entering from one room to another.

The development and implementation of a prototype of an automated hand hygiene monitoring system in healthcare facilities aims to protect patients and medical workers from transmitting Covid-19 infection.
